So I was doing some decorating yesterday while listening to Christmas music on the radio when what should come on but "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music. You know "Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens ..." Now I love that song and everything, but how does it qualify as Christmas music? It has absolutely nothing to do with the holiday except a passing mention of packages tied up in ribbons and strings and silver-white winters that melt into springs. Could someone clear this up for me?
I think its nothing more than a monologue set to music,at least that's how its always seemed and you do get chrimbo roses admittedly they are grown in a warm climate, also it doesnt always snow..does that help.
now this is just a guess, but every year, they show the movie the sound of music on tv near christmas, maybe it just has to do with a theme of the movie? I really don't know, but it was a thought. I love that song though, makes me gitty! Now I will have to go and download it. I really love the movie to. I've seen the musical live, and it was amazing!
hmm I dont know. I do love that song though we sung it at our christmas concert when I was in High School and I dont know why it's considered a Christmas Song but oh well it's still great :)
It's NOT, in my mind. Just because it mentions snow, i guess.
